ENGLISH Premiership


Wales scrum-half Tomos Williams has been officially crowned the best player in England at the the Gallagher Rugby Awards, winning Player of the Year.

New England and Northampton sensation Henry Pollock was named Breakthrough Player of the Year, while recently appointed Wales Women's coach Sean Lynn was crowned Director of Rugby of the Year after leading Gloucester Hartpury to another title in the women's game. Leicester's Meg Jones won Women's Player of the Year.

Jac Morgan and Blair Murray also made the URC team of the season and Sam Davies will be winning the ProD2 player of the season again unless something goes badly wrong.

Well deserved for both of them. Sam has been a revelation. I always thought he had all the assets and just lacked the belief in his ability. The move to France has been of immense benefit to him. If he gets to the Top14 and goes well, we may need to reappraise his value to the national squad.

He’s done well n France and provided his defence now exists, he should be on the radar, assuming he’s eligible.

IIRC he’s 31 so he might have the legs for a few more seasons and allow other players to come through. Certainly we need competition at fly half.
