woakes pretty rubbish so far replaced by 5 wides from Tongue. All a bit as expected tbh...and 6 more wides and a no ball. FFS 12 off the over.

fair play, Tongue has come back well. But we've wasted the shine.

Pretty predictably patchy bowling on a really green wicket. 12 wides is grim and no line or length discipline apart from Atkinson who hasn’t played in months

Good comeback from Tongue, but extras column could cost us and he's all over the shop, in fairness its greener than Kermit out there so control tricky

woakes dislocated shoulder ? :(.

We've sort of honours even today, but Tongue and Overton have been so wild, we should have had them 90 for 6 tbh.

There is a very good bowler there in Tongue - I would rather have someone who makes things happen than someone who is efficient but poses no threat - but this innings has been risible in places. Feels like he's worth working on though.

agreed, 5-90 is great vs a Dawson 0-56 off a million overs- as I said control is tricky, but some would be nice. Overton has looked dangerous but shipped a 4 every over, give or take.

I expect Jamie Smith would agree with you! Poor sod's been diving left and right like he's a goalkeeper trying to read which corner the penalty kick's being put into!

Defo., suspect he was bit keen to impress today after drop/recall, but he's always capable of pulling out a jaffa with his hit-the-deck style. Whether he's going to be a regular or horse-for-the-course remains to be seen.!

Fair play, Atkinson brilliant this am and Tongue er… delivers. Tidy the latter up and you’ve got a very handy attack with Archer and Stokes fit plus bashir or Ahmed or Hartley.

Be interesting to see how many we can get on a tricky wicket and so many stroke players.

Bazball still looks odd to me but it does tend to work...getting the punches in while they can...

Perfect morning. Blew away the Indian tail, then put over a 100 runs on the board for the loss of one wicket. Back it up this afternoon and we'll be sitting pretty.

Tongue has definitely got something worth investing in. His challenge is to cut out the dross and bowl with greater control.

Well quite- neither Crawley nor Duckett thrive on leaving it and blocking, so 50 and out is better than 10 and out in the same time frame. If you had better options as openers, then it’s a different question

....that said, when they were well set, got out. Its clearly difficult out there still. Give us India's extras and we are well on top :)

Making a horlicks of this now and Woakes being missing is significant. Interesting that those that gone into survival mode eg Smith have perished anyway whilst not scoring quickly

India have come back well but we really fell away badly in our innings.

Anyone's game right now.

First hour or so will be important tomorrow, forecast is bright early ,cloudy pm. & staying miserable Sun with some rain.
If Ind. get lead of 200+ it will be a toughie.
( I'm sure someone has batted with one arm in recent years, in a crisis....)

Remains wild that the rules allow India to replace their wicket keeper through injury, but we can't replace a fast bowler. It should either be complete injury replacements or nothing outside of outfielders.

Speaking of fielding, we need to spend the leadup to the Ashes drilling catching practice. Three drops, all of them fairly regulation, following on from several key drops earlier in the series - our bowling attack is not good enough right now for our fielders to be that profligate!

Made a horlicks of this since Crawley was out. An average attack exposed further when Woakes fckd.
