A Guide to Women's Rugby for fans of the Men's Game
For myself, what I say to fans of the men's game tuning in to the women's for more-or-less the first time is...
Most of the women have only been vaguely professional for 3 years or less. Don't expect the silky skills and cohesion of men who've been in professional pathways since they were 12. Also don't expect the impacts of men who weigh 2-3 times as much.
Equally, expect more fun, less cynicism, and less over-coaching than you see in the men's game - think of it more as a throw-back to the 90s - which makes sense for a sport in the infancy of professionalism.

Not sure if this is the right thread for it, but semi relevant so I thought I'd share.
Just listened to a podcast (Coaching Culture) with Wayne Smith as a guest. Focus from about 10 mins in is the last World Cup where he took over the Black Ferns about 6 months before the tournament and led them to victory. I found it fascinating, and quite inspiring.

Meant to say, there is a good stat from it. In the last World Cup, Ruhei Demant, Kiwi captain and no10, offloaded more that any single team (other than NZ obviously) in the tournament.
Love Smith's attitude. Basically, we'll give it a very good shot of winning, but whether we win or not we are going to have a lot of fun and going to entertain.
