Ordinarily I'd dismiss this as 'Agents will link anyone and everyone to Newcastle now that they're cashed up', but it does actually make a lot of sense. He'd be a short-term boost of quality to try and keep this transitional Newcastle squad off the bottom of the table and his experience would be invaluable in a callow backline - there's no doubt he could teach their youngsters a hell of a lot.
Would only be for one season, you suspect, but it would be a move that suits all and Williams deserves to have a better swansong than he got last year.

Good luck to him. If he can stay fit then any club will benefit from his experience and he’s still good enough for club rugby.
