Realistic expectations for Tandy's first Autumn

Post by UKHamlet »

Japan
Argentina
South Africa
New Zealand

I think we'll hammer Japan out of sight, setting up a wave of world-beating confidence amongst the fans. Then Argentina will bring us down with a bump, followed by a good Rogering by the Boers, and an efficiently dispiriting ritual sacrifice on the All Blacks altar.

Japan - Wales +30
Argentina - Argies +20
South Africa - Boers +45
New Zealand - ABs +35

A realistic return is:

Beat Japan with a little in the bank.
Be competitive vs Argentina
Maintain some dignity va the Bokke and All Blacks

Anything more is a bonus. Losing all four is by no means impossible at the moment but would be a poor outcome.

There's a lot of uncertainty with a new coach. Will Tandy be Gatland mk1 or mk2? Or most likely somewhere in the huge gap inbetween?

My guess is:
Beat Japan by 10
Argies beat us by 10
SA win by 30
NZ win by 30

Beating Japan and looking like we could beat the Argies with a good dose of luck would be an acceptable performance. I don't expect much from the last two matches: looking competitive would be a real bonus.
