What a way to celebrate Everitt’s resigning.
I wish he’d resigned rather than re-signed.
Haha
Don't disagree, though I think the game today wasn't the one to judge him on. Edinburgh should be doing better but we shouldn't comoletely discount the injuries and Bath were just too strong.
Big game at home against the Bulls next week. Win that and get a few back over the 6N and they can approach the rest of the URC season positively. Lose and things could spiral even further.
Edinburgh team for the home game against the Bulls. Rae, Gilchrist and Venter all back from injury. It’s about a strong a team as they could put out but I’ve no idea how they’ll perform. I expect the forwards will be OK and the backs will fail to do anything of note.

17-7 up at half-time and lose 19-17. No real surprise there, Edinburgh were terrible in the 2nd half with appalling performances from Thompson and Shiel (when he came on) coupled with poor discipline. You could point to the dodgy TMO decision for the winning try but Edinburgh didn’t deserve to win that. You really feel for young players like Freddy Douglas whose careers could be held back by being stuck at an under-performing club like Edinburgh.
Somehow the SRU thought that a team coached this badly should keep their head coach for another two years, all in the name of consistency. Consistently failing.
Also, Ashman pulled out before the match with a neck injury and Rae went off for an HIA which he failed. Ominous for the 6N. I hope Zander gets minimal game time for Glasgow tomorrow.
Edinburgh lambs to the slaughter at Leinster on Saturday. The most notable inclusion is DVDM who has been released from the international squad, indicating that Townsend is (correctly) going with Steyn for the Italy match. Also released are Douglas and Bradbury. Hopefully Douglas gets a chance with the A team. In the front row Jerry Blyth-Lafferty is chucked in at the deep end with his first start.

Shouldn't be lambs to the slaughter. Leinster have few big names and loads of kids. Edin should more than hold their own in the scrum so good place for littl big brother to start.

That's an outrageous decision to disallow the Edinburgh try, max deegan tackles a gut off the ball and wins a penalty for it absolute joke, leinster get so many bullshit decisions in this competition
Edinburgh dump their defence and skills coaches and retain their attack coach (and unfortunately the head coach). Skills could undoubtedly be better, but at least in the URC defence has been OK (3rd best according to the article). It’s attack (3rd worst) which is the problem. So of course they sack the defence coach.
Scott Mathie the attack coach has now been released (leaving at the end of the season). Thank fuck.
“Edinburgh Rugby has now initiated a global search for new assistant coach candidates, across a range of specialisms, to bring fresh knowledge and experience to the capital side in 2026/27”
Pardon my cynicism but what are the chances the global search will find someone close to EH12?
This initiating a global search wording doesn't suggest they've made much progress.
Laidlaw, MacRae and Nick Easter are the three names I have seen mentioned. I'd be surprised if Laidlaw didn't get some sort of role - his one coaching job didn't go well, but I think they'll (rightly) think he has potential and (wrongly) overpromote him. Not sure MacRae would want to be an assistant. Easter is interesting. Think he has some decent experience and apparently worked with Everitt before. No idea if he is actually a good coach.
Easter has been a mixed bag but I definitely think there’s something there. I’m not sure if he settled on being a forwards/defence coach though?
I can definitely see Laidlaw getting thrown in at too high a level and struggling, but agree there must be some place for him in the system at some point.
