See Nicky Thomas has been signed by the Scarlets from Gloucester.
Looked a great prospect for the U20s but hasn't had much opportunity at Glos.
Think he would have had more opportunities if he would have stayed at the O's but hopefully he'll get a lot of game time at the Scarlets.

Re: Nicky Thomas
Yep , I am always happy to see our young talent playing in Wales. Just wish there was a better way to retain these players in Wales n the first place. I suppose it comes down to a better structure below the regions. Maybe with the present WRU management we may progress in this area... just such a lost opportunity for many years.

Not sure on the exact reasons why Thomas went in the first place, but can't help feeling it was the offer of more money. You compare Smith's development with Thomas's and you wonder if he'd be further ahead at this moment in time and on more money if he had stayed at the O's.ALunpg wrote:Yep , I am always happy to see our young talent playing in Wales. Hopefully this will be a good example for some of the other youngsters to think about.
