I largely agree. I think there is no point playing Biggar and its time to let Anscombe and Davies have a run at the fly half shirt. It might also be a game to rest Moriarty and Charteris, although arguably the game time, with perhaps an early sub if going well, would be beneficial prior to the South Africa game.
Which Davies do you have on the bench?

I would be seriously tempted to play the same (poss switch Baldwin and Owens, esp if Owens is carrying a knock).
We need to get the combinations working together, which they patently are not at the moment. Saturday was dreadful, even if we got the win. We had so much possession and yet nearly lost. I would play the same team and give them another rocket. Challenge them to score at least 5 tries. Challenge them to concede no tries. Do not tinker with things until the game is won, then bring on people like Sam Davies. Giles is heading for a potential disaster if Japan watched him play the other week - he is going to be great, lets not destroy him yet.

I think a few of our combinations need time to gel, particularly the centres. But I see no point in playing Biggar, we know what he can do and this is an opportunity to give another option a go. Gilles should be given a run out, but perhaps from the bench as this is the sort of game that North could regain some confidence in (assuming we give him the ball at some stage when he actually has some momentum.

Sam Davies at 10, Keelan Giles on one of the wings, preferably in the place of North but not really too bothered.
Perhaps Howley could consider the unthinkable and move 1/2p to the wing, and Liam to full back?
Beyond that I'm not too worried, just rest players that seem to need it most.

I like the 23 ,mostly ..but would change it a around a bit of who starts. I want to see Dacey he is all about the place on the pitch, but occasionally his darts have gone into the treble 18 but much better this season. I want to play North tro start, he needs to get into a rhythm, and this is the best chance. I personally prefer Williams and 1/2p the other way around , but its is so damn close , lets give it a whirl. I want Lee to get a start again to see if he can up his game in the loose.MrK wrote:Japan time

Giles has the potential to be the next best thing, but it is just potential and I am not one who believes if your good enough your old enough malarkey in the modern game. In the amateur days it was possible, now, Japan will have their coaches watching his Ospreys performance. Sadly it is not going to happen, they will put him in and I hope that he plays well.
