Yes, treadmills and cycling machines, how depressing that people don't want to even walk and cycle outdoors anymore! At my gym in Wellington they had a couple of big TV screens in front of the machines as well. I suppose nowadays everybody will just be looking at their smart phones or whatever ...Galfon wrote:Mixture of needing to be seen and safety fears prraps.Walking on treadmills or static cycling in busy sweaty gyms seem similar oddities to me.

This is the kind of weird, irrational hatred I wanted from this thread. Bastard joggers not wanting to collapse. SAD.Discreet Hooker wrote:Plastic waste contamination caused by those silly water disposed bottles with the hole in so sad joggers can hold onto them and not collapse thru' dehydration .

What the fuck are you on about? I liked that post.
And yes, you definitely did mention that one. At least it made some sort of sense the first time.

Yes, and the excessive use of the word 'like' in general, "I was like...", "she's like, and I'm like", as you say, the only thing these fuckers can be likened to are morons, or carrots if your welsh.welshsaint wrote:Be like.........anyone using it in a sentence, be like a fucking moron.

Gym dwellers in general, come to think of it; mostly just egos in trainers. The instructors who regard themselves as the epicenter of the universe, the guys doing weights (when they're not posing in front of the mirrors) who think they're the next Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the distinctly butch chicks in skin-tight leotards who try to compete with you in the aerobics classes - and usually win

How do you know this if you aren't a Gym dweller (as you so eloquently put it), or do you look at pictures of people in gyms on the internet?rowan wrote:Gym dwellers in general, come to think of it; mostly just egos in trainers. & what part of that post led you to the idiotic conclusion I wasn't a gym dweller? I should've thought it was fairly obvious to anyone but a demented retard with a maturity level of 12.Numbers wrote:How do you know this if you aren't a Gym dweller (as you so eloquently put it), or do you look at pictures of people in gyms on the internet?rowan wrote:Gym dwellers in general, come to think of it; mostly just egos in trainers. I'm also left wondering what the boundaries of the maturity scale are. Does it correlate with age? Is it a percentage? Is it out of 100? Out of 10? Was he actually saying Numbers is (despite his demented retardation) incredibly mature?

Does this person not understand the English language? Does he believe he is being witty, clever, cutting? Is his objective to impress, wound, flatter his own ego? Does he not have the sense to simply ask for clarification like an adult?Mikey Brown wrote:I enjoyed that too.morepork wrote:A demented retard. The worst kind of retard.

In fact, getting the discussion back on track, I was a gym regular for almost two decades but was not an instructor, never touched weights and certainly didn't parade around in skin-tight leotards. Not all gym dwellers fit into those 3 categories, which is why I qualified the contribution with the phrase in general and adverb mostly. This should have been evident to anyone with a reasonable grasp of the English language.
I gave up gyms when I came to Turkey, however, due to the relatively high fees, and took up mini-pitch soccer, which I played happily for eight or nine years.

My cringe/hate with mini-soccer, while I'm at it, were the talented prima donnas who didn't show up too regularly but always took it upon themselves to run the game and order the rest of us around when they did

The proportion of prime parking slots allocated to blue-badgers is ridiculous - most who put the badge out & skip in to the outlet look fit enough for mini-soccer to me.
Also gym-dwellers are now venturing forth in the guise of 'cross-fit' - if there isn't a venue near you yet there soon will be.
You'll recognise it when confronted by gym-gear clad person (about even split gender wise i'd say) hurtling out of a building with a grimace as if they'd just robbed the till, bombing down a side-alley or touching an object, then running back as if they'd forgotten summut.
Either it's a cross between gym- dwelling & power-walking, or just something to make pedestrians cross, not sure.

Glad I gave up on gyms then. These days they speak in terms of spinning and pilates and other activities which mean little to me and arouse no interest eitherGalfon wrote:The proportion of prime parking slots allocated to blue-badgers is ridiculous - most who put the badge out & skip in to the outlet look fit enough for mini-soccer to me.
