I wonder if Marcus on the bench lets Steve realise his wet dream of 5 backrowers in the 23.

Should think fin is Steve's man, and not much point having him start with ford on the bench.

I expect fin will be expected to play 80 mins unless injured, which is probably right in any case. Changing the fly half after an hour every game is just massively disruptive. Smith to come on at fullback and shuffle things to give someone a rest, or change things up, or cover injuries.

I’m certain Farrell will be back. He has just been picked in the Lions test squad despite coming off an, at best, disappointing club season and looking well off the pace in every meaningful game on tour. The media have also lapped it up. He will be at Sarries and will look better in a team built around him so you will have the media hyping him up.

I’ve resigned myself to him being at least at 12 which is depressing when SAtkinson looked ready to step up and Dingwall has been decent.

Ford would be the man in possession at 10 but I rate FSmith also - the way he has been sidelined on the Lions tour for the coaches son has been pretty disgraceful given his form running into it. He seems resilient so hopefully he bounces back quickly but wouldn’t surprise me if it’s the six nations before we see his best.

We'll see.

Frankly Farrell did absolutely nothing to suggest he's an improvement on what we already have.

Be a massive step backwards if he's brought back.

If he comes back in it's a slap in the face to everyone at 10 and 12 that has done well in his absence, and means our wings will chase even more aimless kicks if the want to see any ball. I'll be furious if he's even named in a 36 squad.

Can't we convince Tindall and Hooper to make Fazlet their prime target for R360, or whatever it's called?
