That's not bad at all, Chiefs had a soft underbelly before he came in but they have gone off the boil the last couple of years.hp18 wrote:Rennie

Good appointment. Any word on whether the back room staff will remain?

I believe McKenzie is no longer eligible for Scotland as he was an unused sub for NZ, correct? Shame... would have loved to see him brought along! Although he'll probably get a cap between now and then.

Hi bawbags.
Good summers I trust?
Toonie off - sad news from a Weeg perspective. Will be interesting to see what he makes of the Scotland job. Understand Vern wanted back to NZ. Hopefully Humphreys is off.
Rennie - happy news.
Meanwhile Embra will muddle through with Solly to be replaced by Scott and Hodgey next season whilst playing out of a school ground with a dilapidated shed.

Aye, times have changed, I remember not so long ago the Embra getting way more money than the weeg... Good times... Good times.
Sorry to see Vern go, happy Toonie is replacing him, and that looks like a good fit for the Weeg.

Cracking summer EinE
Always love it when the Olympics rolls around - becoming an armchair expert on random sports ("that's clearly an 95 point dive") is great. Even the sevens was good.
Plus still got the festival going on here in Embra. Have the annual boys festival day out today (code for sitting in George Square drinking beer while pretending to be cultured.)
Only getting balder - bit of a one way street - we're never going to get any taller, eh?
Java will get fatter though.

Happy with all this. My ideal scenario would have been Toonie and Cotter staying on where they are long term but feared they would both leave Scotland after this year and we would be starting from scratch. Couldn't have hoped for better than Ronnie either (not that I actually know much about him).
Oh and I understand concerns about young Scottish coaches but if you can get someone of that calibre I'm not sure you can turn it down

I thought VC would have stayed until after the next WC. There was some chat on twitter saying that Tom English was overheard at a football match saying Toony had 'held the SRU to ransom'. I'm guessing that means he said he wants to top job or he's off.

Re: Toonie, Goooooooooooooooone
Given the apparently swift nature of the move and looking at the whole picture that might be true. Although "held to ransom" may be too strong it's not inconceivable that he said "I'm not signing a new Glasgow contract and I want to move on" and then the SRU decided to act.Chunks Baws wrote:I thought VC would have stayed until after the next WC. Sounds more likely. Toony doesn't strike me as the holding to ransom type. Tom English is a fud as well.

Exactly. And there'd be nowt wrong if GT did decide his time at Glasgow was coming to an end. Tom English is woeful and desperate to be relevant.Chunks Baws wrote:Big D wrote:Given the apparently swift nature of the move and looking at the whole picture that might be true. Funny, I quite like Tom English. Suspect you are right on how it happened. I think most people would have been surprised if Toonie signed a new Glasgow contract and the SRU will have taken this into account whether or not he specifically said he was offBig D wrote:Exactly. An article in the Scotsman today suggests that Toonie will take Taylor and McFarland with him to Scotland, with Glasgow receiving Humphrerys and O'Hallaran. Seems like a pretty poor swap for Glasgow but makes absolute sense for the national side.
Wonder what this means for Mike Blair?

Hmm. Wish Humphreys would just feck off.
But at least a new Scotland coach - for the first time in ages - is being allowed to bring in his own assistants.

I read that article and seemed a bit of a jump from Morris on from Ronnie being happy to stay in house to Humphreys and O'Hallaran going to Glasgow. There are plenty of names in house including Blair and Murray and we don't even know who Edinburgh's coaches will be next season yethp18 wrote:By that cunt Morrison.switchskier wrote:An article in the Scotsman today suggests that Toonie will take Taylor and McFarland with him to Scotland, with Glasgow receiving Humphrerys and O'Hallaran.
