Hopes and Expectations for 2017/18

So seeing as in all likelihood Scottish players have finished their 2016/17 season what are the hopes for next year?

Scotland:
- 2 out of 3 wins in the Autumn. Maybe blood a handful of new/newish caps
- 3 wins in the 6N must be the new baseline expectation.
- Clean sweep on the summer tour to North America.

Glasgow:
- Making the play-offs after that it becomes a lottery.
- Finish at least second in the European group. The groups are so even now it is hard to predict how many points will be needed etc.
- Continue to see some young players involved.

Edinburgh:
- Top 7 has to be the target.
- To be honest I an not fussed about the diddy cup. But coming second in that group as a minimum should be achievable. I would definitely be sending the kids to Russia for that game though
- Continue to see some young players involved and if anything increase the number seeing game time with the likes of Burleigh and MacKenzie starting to be used less.

Sevens:
Tough season ahead with a lot of changes. I think JD is a good coach but bettering last years 7th will be tough.
- Making a cup QF in one of the events before Christmas.
- Gain 80 points over the season. That's the equivalent of 9th in every competition.
- Finish in the top 9 in the overall rankings.

They have, I guess for me it just depends on how the fixtures fall and where exactly Krasny play but I would not be sending some of the older players over like Ford, Nel, Dicko if fit etc. The league and trying to get into the top 7 should be priority IMO. Something similar to the side that went to Romania with a tweak or 5 in the back line.

if we have a fit squad we should really be looking at beating Wales away, France at home, italy away and then that leaves one of England at home or Ireland away

I would add for the Sevens making one final. Is tough and a bit of a lottery but Id much prefer them to do really well in a few and struggle in others than just become solid. Creates more excitement and a buzz

Russell/Hogg to carry on from last year as if the Lions never happened. Jones/Bennet to walk unaided. Dunbar to remember how to attack, as he is currently far too good a defender to leave out. Our key tight 5 players to stay fit. That'd be a nice start. Then I reckon we might actually win something.

7s is decent. The rest ain't a patch on the last few editions. However if it's a choice between keeping a good jersey and releasing a new one which folk will buy regardless of appearance, I'll take the latter every time.

As far as away strips go? Considering we've had orange, purple, that horrible white/blue/yellow number, grey and a host of crappy ones I'm going to go with yes.

Part of his problem was that he believed he already was a world class winger and his off field beliefs mostly didn't match his training or match day performances.

We are in North America next summer. Which is a shame as it would be nice to get a decent tour. The following summer will be world cup prep and warm ups.
