Friday Question : Next Welsh Coaches
Hypothetically, Gatland decides he has had enough and his coaching team decide they are leaving with him.
Who do you want in?
Head Coach:
Attack Coach:
Defence Coach:
Forwards Coach:
Kicking Coach:
Other Specialist Coach(es):

Re: Friday Question : Next Welsh Coaches
For head coach, I think Dai Young is still top of the pecking order. Strange has done with the juniors and I like what Mike Rayer has done at Bedford (although I want to see him tested at a higher level).
Attack coach. The Count.
I'll have to give the others some more thought. My big and obvious concern is that if Gatland decides after the Lions tour that enough is enough then we get Howley due to a lack of alternatives.

Danny Wilson was excellent as the defence coach when he was at the Scarlets.
Other than Dai Young only Pivac stands out to me of the coaches based in the NH.

Re: Friday Question : Next Welsh Coaches
Head Coach: Dai Young
Attack Coach: Stephen Jones
Defence Coach: Phil Blake
Forwards Coach: Steve Tandy
Kicking Coach: Neil Jenkins
Other Specialist Coach
Skills Coach ..... Nigel Davies
Fitness Coach ... Paul Sturgeon
Dair Young as Head or if not Wayne Pivac.
If Young came he would probably want some of his guys around him....I like what Blake does with Wasps it could be said to be leaky ...but it focuses a lot on transition stuff to set an attack going from defence.
Forwards would be Tandy...he is nuts and guts but if not Welsh ..Jono Gibbes..alternative ....Gareth Llewellyn or Paul Moriarty.
I did think of HLF as skills coach ..he will know how not to do it.I left Jinx as kicking coach he has done a great job . I like Nigel Davies as a coach ..he would be a safe pair of hands

Dai Young, with with Jones continuing what he's done with the Scarlets? Nah. Stick with Gatley, they'll come good.

I'm not convinced by Tandy, Gibbes would be an excellent appointment.

Re: Friday Question : Next Welsh Coaches
I think we can all agree someone who takes over will want his boys...so it's all a bit of fun.
I was trying to get a Welsh coaching sqaud but there are no defence coach or forwards coach that stand out .
Maybe you don't rate Tandy...so be it .but let's be positive..what Welsh forwards coach that I didnt list that has shown he is at the top of the tree ...I couldn't find one.
...would be interested in your choice.

Certainly see no reason to favour a Welshman. Maybe Pivac if the Scarlets can continue where they left off last season.Lizard wrote:You'll be wanting another Kiwi head, no?

He has done good things since his arrival (on Gatlands recommendation).Son of Mathonwy wrote:Certainly see no reason to favour a Welshman. Maybe Pivac if the Scarlets can continue where they left off last season.Lizard wrote:You'll be wanting another Kiwi head, no?
