Taqele Naiyaravoro's contract.

Post by hugh_woatmeigh »

Okay, we're all aware he's leaving and it was mooted by some of the Weeg fans pretty early on as well.

My understanding based on the reports & quotes from Townsend are that Glasgow will receive no fee whatsoever if he moves to another club despite having two years left on the contract. Toony also mentions a release clause if he "didn't settle in Glasgow" - I struggle to believe that something that is so open to interpretation and so easy to milk could be included in a contract. Toulon could come along, offer him 5 times his wages - what is stopping him (or any other player) milking that opportunity?

The bottom line is I think Glasgow should be compensated and I cannot believe they've got themselves into a position where that is most likely not going to happen.

Thoughts?

They signed it and took their chances. Win some lose some.

A shambles from the start, he's been pish mostly too. A good lesson for Toony.

They absolutely shouldn't be compensated as they signed a contract that says they wouldn't, that's tough titty. They signed a contract clearly designed to get TN over here and hope he settles in and bonds like Naka did. That was probably never going to happen as soon as Oz capped him.

Time to move on. One would hope that his reported £200k pa could be used to sign quality players.

I'm aware Glasgow don't deserve to be compensated as they drafted and signed the contract. My point was more around letting themselves get to a position where they would not receive compensation for a marquee player in the first place.

The thing is it is that clause that probably helped them get the player in the 1st place.

Hopefully they spend time trying to unearth another DTH type, rather than an overpaid 'blockbuster' signing.

That empty wing slot looks like a real problem for Glasgow next season. Maitland, DTH & Mr T all leaving. Lamont is in his final season. Hughes is not up to it and has a lot more development to do.

It might even be worth Lee Jones taking the shirt - he's performed well when called upon and could well step up another level if giving a consistent run in the team.

Aye, this. The signing itself seemed to set in motion a fairly unique set of circumstances that heavily contributed to this outcome. These things happen.

26-17 to us....A try from Bennett finally, converted. Dicko to bundle over from 3 cms out. Converted. The rest of the points from Greegs boot. My crystal Baws can't see where Frances points come from.

Back in reality we'll get beat, and next week. Then spend all of the following week reading about "turned corners" and pish like that.

Back on topic....I just think it was a lesson for Toony and Glasgow. It will probably be a while before they even consider another signing like Mr T.
