California Calcutta Cup??

Post by General Zod »

Whilst trying to work out the future international rugby calendar (hey - I’ve been indoors for a month now, give me a break!), I noticed on the wiki page below that Scotland are down to play England on 3rd July 2021 in Inglewood, CA (at the new Los Angeles stadium, no less).

I’ve checked on the RFU website and their travel page mentions that they are off to North America, but nothing more than that. I haven’t bothered checking the SRU website because it’s always been terrible for future fixture information. Why would the fans want to know things like where and when we’re playing and how to get tickets (even for foreign tour matches) in one convenient place? They never have before.

Anyway, I digress. Am I the last to know this?

Stadium looks a belter. Would be great if one of the many Scottish billionaires who read this board could get people together for something like this at Murrayfield to leave a legacy.

Given the lions tour, it must be women's or youth rugby, surely? A quick squint at the stadium website shows absolutely nothing about rugby.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I thought that, but I seem to remember Scotland touring during or around the time of the last lions tour. I can’t imagine they would hire a stadium like that for a women’s game yet, but maybe I am a dinosaur about these things and it is California after all.

Bit of a money-spinner if it comes off, I’d imagine.
