I read the wrote up and listened to the podcast on his press conference.
Sounds sensible to me and aware of the issues. Rightly though he doesn't get into too many details of what he is going to do, and I suspect that is the hard bit. Money and structure are real issues, but he seems keen not to make excuses.

Aaaaand he’s off with the Lions. What? Seems a bit weird, no? I thought this role was about long-term building.

Yeah, I thought that was a bit odd. He is part time so might not disrupt him too much, but I'm not sure.
To be honest, I don't know how much his role involves actually looking at individual young players and building plams for them to develop (in which case you woulf want him around during the summer tour and, especially, the u20 world cup) and how much it is just systems (in which case the timing doesn't matter as much).
