To replace Vern in 2017.
The early announcement or the actual change?Big D wrote:Wow, wonder what has brought that about.

On the announcement. The SRU leak all over the shop, and Scottish sports journas have shown themselves to be an untrustworthy shower of wankers. Maybe one was going to print and they were forced to announce early? Better to do it yourself and piss on Morrisons chips while you're at it.Big D wrote:Both.hp18 wrote:The early announcement or the actual change?Big D wrote:Wow, wonder what has brought that about.
Wonder if he'll be part of the Lions set up.hp18 wrote:On the announcement. The SRU leak all over the shop, and Scottish sports journas have shown themselves to be an untrustworthy shower of wankers. Vern will want back to NZ eventually. No Soup rugby slots available next year, maybe he wanted a year and the SRU rightly said piss off? Maybe they thought Toonie was a flight risk (can't see it myself, not yet), and decided now was the time for the change? Who knows.
And they will know more than we do.Big D wrote:On a side note
Glasgow could do with having a clue re their next coach as a lot of OOC players will be wanting to know who they are signing up to play for.
I think MI5 are involved here..hp18 wrote:

That is not always a safe assumption. Many of the players agents will be starting now to fish for offers. Unless Glasgow are staying in house they could only have made tentative approaches to others.hp18 wrote:And they will know more than we do.Big D wrote:On a side note

If that person is unemployed or not available til say the end of the mitre cup then Im 'm not sure there would be justification for keeping the status quo except to save a wee bit of money.hp18 wrote:Courtesy of Gordon at GW

Eh?Big D wrote:If that person is unemployed or not available til say the end of the mitre cup then Im 'm not sure there would be justification for keeping the status quo except to save a wee bit of money.hp18 wrote:Courtesy of Gordon at GW

Should the identified replacement be available to start with Glasgow within a reasonable timeframe e.g now if unemployed, or end of the mitre 10 cup if employed in NZ then we should just get the whole thing moving and key people in their new jobs. No point waiting until the end of the season. It won't make much difference to Glasgow (they'll should still make the playoffs) and will benefit Scotland rather than having a lame duck as coach.hp18 wrote:Eh?Big D wrote:If that person is unemployed or not available til say the end of the mitre cup then Im 'm not sure there would be justification for keeping the status quo except to save a wee bit of money.hp18 wrote:Courtesy of Gordon at GW

Jammy hammed up an interview (admitted it at the time and after, he was clearly ripping it) and now wanker papers like above have gone into overdrive. It's bollocks.AL. wrote:Maybe Stern was hounded out....

You disagree that is fair enough.hp18 wrote:Sorry, that's a load of shite.Big D wrote:Should the identified replacement be available to start with Glasgow within a reasonable timeframe e.g now if unemployed, or end of the mitre 10 cup if employed in NZ then we should just get the whole thing moving and key people in their new jobs. If he really is a "highly successful" coach just get on with it.Mark Dodson wrote: Glasgow fans will be disappointed to see Townsend go after he led them to the Pro12 title in 2015, but Dodson believes the man they have lined up as his successor will excite the Scotstoun regulars.
"We're very close to being able to announce Gregor's successor," Dodson continued. "It will be over the next couple of weeks or so.
"We've done our due diligence, we've made our moves in the market and we're confident we'll be able to announce a highly successful coach. I think most rugby people will know this person.
"In two or three weeks time, I think we'll be in a position to make sure that the Glasgow fans realise that we have taken the project at Scotstoun on to another level with a person that can replace Gregor and just keep that wonderful story of the Warriors going.
"I think, when you see the person we've appointed, I don't think they'll be any doubt about his quality."
