Champions Cup Groups

Post by Numbers »

Pool 1: Wasps, La Rochelle, Ulster, Harlequins

Pool 2: Clermont Auvergne, Saracens, Ospreys , Northampton Saints

Pool 3: Exeter Chiefs, Leinster, Montpellier, Glasgow

Pool 4: Munster, Racing 92, Leicester Tigers, Castres

Pool 5: Scarlets , Toulon, Bath Rugby, Treviso

Scarlets in with a shout of qualification for a change, the Os have their work cut out unfortunately.

They are all pretty nasty, I think Scarlets will be the happier of the two Welsh teams. Poor old Ospreys.

Pool 2 is ridiculous

Clermont just won the top14 playoffs and came runners up in the ERCC
Sarries have won the last 2 ERCC and came third in their league
O's Came fourth in their league
Northampton came 7th and won the qualification playoff

I think the Scarlets are in with a decent shout. To be fair, if they can continue their good form from the Pro 12 finals into next season, they shouldn't fear anyone.

Clutching at a few straws Ospreys-wise, this group might be a blessing in disguise - albeit a pretty convincing disguise! :-)

There will be no pressure on Os in this group. They'll be widely expected to place third at best. If they give it a lash, a couple of swashbuckling home wins might boost morale enough to help in the Pro12, where they should actually be expecting to compete.

I guess it's the price you pay for finishing 4th.... but it's obviously pretty unfair when compared with what 5th place Ulster have to face in pool 1.

Still, for the Ospreys it wouldn't be Europe without being the group of death. Plus ça change and all that.
